K: Atom is made of three kinds of element such as neutrons, protons and electron.

I learned that the atomic number= electron number= proton number. To find the number of neutrons I have to mass number subtract atomic number. There are two type of atom that combine together are covalent bonds and ionic bonds. Covalent bond is forms by sharing outer electron and ionic bond is the atoms combine if they became positively or negatively charged.
There are two kinds of mixture such as homogeneous mixture(Solution) and heterogeneous mixture. Solution is the component that are evenly mixed throughout. heterogeneous mixture is the component that are not mixed evenly and each component retains its own properties.

Heredity Reflection

1. Knows that reproduction is a characteristic of all living things and is essential to all living things:
In my power point presentation on heredity, I explained that characteristic of all living things and is essential living things because it can increase the number and it can pass on the particular characteristics of a species. If lion stop reproduce, the species will disappear. All the organisms stop reproduce, Earth will destroyed because there are no food to eat.
2. Understands asexual and sexual reproduction (e.g. in terms of how genes are passed to offspring- heredity, and the advantages/disadvantages of both):
In my Power Point presentation on heredity, I compared seastars, lion & planarias. Seastars and planarias are produce offspring sexually through regeneration( the ability to recreate lost or damaged tissues) and lion produce offspring sexually through fertilization(egg and sperm are join together to form a zygoute). In sexaul reproduction the nember of offspring produce in a given amount time is shorter(Usually only one offspring) but in asxual reproduction the number of offspring produce in a given amount time is longer(Usually one or more than one offspring). Sexual reproduction offspring are not genetically identical because each parent only donates haploid sex cell, only in small population. But in asexual reproduction offspring are genetically identical because only one parent donate their DNA. Some hermaphrodites can self fertilize. So if one of the parent have disease the possibility for the offspring the disease causing DNA is much lower in sexual reproduction but in asexual reproduction thedisease causing genes will certainly pass to the offspring.But it won't special in the population. The characteristics may disappear in sexual reproduction but in asexual reproduction all the characteristics will passed on to the offspring. Limit the spread of disadvantage traits. This is good as long as the enviorment doesn't change. The lifespan of sexual reproduction is much loger than that of sexual reproduction because the cell cycle for each cell is longer.
3. Knows where heredity information is contained and how traits are determined :
In my Power point presentation on heredity, I describe that hereditery imformation located in DNA which contains information for an organism's growth and function. There are 4 kinds of nitrogen bases such as guanine, adnenine, sytosine, and thymine. Organisms traits are determine by gene which is a section of DNA on chromosome. The different form of a trait that a gene may have are called Alleles. There are two kinds of alleles such as dominant which dominate or cover up the other trait and recessive which is dominated or covered up by dominant allele. Upper case letter stand for dominant allele and lower case letter stand for recessive allele. So if there have at least one dominat allele it is domiant phenotype(heterozygous or homozygous) but if two two letters are recessive allele it's phenotype will be recessive(homozygous)
